Buhler Industries
Buhler Industries was established in 1932 and now includes factories and warehouses across the United States and Canada. Primarily known as an agricultural equipment manufacturer Buhler also builds tractors, front-end loaders, augers, and compacting implements. Headquartered in Winnipeg Buhler Industries is traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange and includes brands like Farm King, Allied, Inland and Versatile.
The Problem
Whenever Buhler Industries installs hydraulic cylinders into machines at their assembly plants they test the cylinders to ensure they meet their safety and quality standards.
The Solution
To help improve Buhler’s efficiency Dynamic designed and built a hydraulic cylinder assembly/test stand to aid in the assembly and testing of cylinders prior to installation.
The Result
The cylinder bench provides the production worker with the hydraulic power tools to secure the piston onto the ramshaft, assemble the tube and end caps, pressure test the cylinder to check for leaks, and then flush the cylinder. All this makes the testing procedure much quicker and safer.
Custom Castings
Custom Castings Limited Canada is a Winnipeg foundry specializing in manufacturing non-ferrous products. Established in 1971 Custom Castings provides high quality aluminum and zinc alloy castings for a variety of industries across North America including aerospace, communication, construction and transportation companies (to name just a few).
The Problem
Molten aluminum flows at varying rates as it passes through different sized mold pattern passageways and conduits.
The Solution
Dynamic designed and built an automated tilt-pour table where all variables can be programmed into the computer PLC control system. Information from position sensors located throughout the table is fed to the hydraulic valves, pumps and motors. Then the computers are used to continuously monitor and adjust the pour rate to ensure the highest degree of quality in the finished product.
The Result
This unique closed-loop system allows a very precise pouring rate of the molten aluminum to dramatically increase the rate of production and decrease the reject rate of the cast parts.
Motor Coach Industries
Motor Coach Industries (MCI) is the leading North American manufacturer of coaches and buses. The company has its origins in Winnipeg in 1933 but is now headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois with plants in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Pembina, North Dakota. In total MCI employs more than 2,000 people.
The Problem
The Motor Coach Industries plant in Winnipeg used a Chicago Hydraulic 500 ton press brake which needed a complete overhaul after years of use.
The Solution
To complete the overhaul Dynamic rebuilt the two 18 inch diameter hydraulic cylinders to OEM specifications, and machined the long bed plates, the top and bottom tables along with the gibs. Dynamic also designed, built and installed a new hydraulic power unit which incorporated an electro-hydraulic proportional control system, complete with Allen Bradley PLC and Panel-View display.
The Result
Motor Coach Industries immediately received a return on their investment as the run time on the press increased by up to 50%.
